Edwards get SC endorsments

I think John Edwards is making more headway in SC then the MSM wants anyone to know about. This was put up on the JRE website.
I still think he is the candidate that has the pull from undecideds and people that are not making the numbers in the polls.

Posted by Tracy:
"Today, three prominent African American South Carolina State Representatives are sending a letter to over 500 black state legislators from across the country, discussing why they support Senator John Edwards for president.  State Representatives Bill Clyburn, Lonnie Hosey and Chris Hart, who have all endorsed Edwards for President, are encouraging their colleagues to join them in supporting Edwards, believing he is the best candidate to address the concerns of their communities and bring about bold change for America."

more below the fold

"Clyburn, Hosey and Hart, cite Edwards' work over the past few years to ensure justice - walking the picket line with workers in Miami, working to raise the minimum wage in six states and traveling to Louisiana with 700 college students over Spring Break to help with rebuilding efforts.   They also note Edwards' detailed plans to ensure opportunity for all Americans as a reason they support Edwards."

Re: Edwards get SC endorsments (1.00 / 0)

Why is this on the recommended list? It certainly isn't for its penetrating insight or depth.

Re: Edwards get SC endorsments (2.00 / 2)

Oh. I figured it out. It must be because Edwards supporters will recommend even the thinnest of diaries if it is about their candidate. I'm all for enthusiasm but seriously, how about a tiny bit of discretion. Are we seriously going to see a rec'd diary about every barely relevant endorsement and/or slight that John Edwards receives through out the entire campaign.

Would you enjoy some cheese with your whine?  Good god, just ignore the diary and move on to something you find interesting.

Re: Edwards get SC endorsments (3.00 / 2)

Right now there are two Obama blogs and one Edwards blog in the recomended list.  One of the Obama blogs deserves to be up there, long, well thought out, truly new thoughts.  The other is a fine blog but deserves to be there just as much as this one does but no one is complaining.

The rec list is going to be biased, it's unfortunate but it's how things are.  It's sad but not a reason to criticize Edwards supporters any more than it is to criticize Obama supporters.

Only one of those is really about Obama (none / 0)

the other one is about all the candidates. I enjoyed them both.

Re: Edwards get SC endorsments (none / 0)

Good news for Edwards... but they are just State Reps, so while they potentially could have an impact, they just as easily could have very little.  I don't believe they count in the SD total (and I may be wrong... I can't find a list of who is an SD for 2008, outside of elected officials in COngress), plus other candidates will get reps from all states...  The only place I can see someone sweeping in endorsements is their Home State, and even then with the field we have that will be hard (especially as HRC calls in past chits).... If they can't get a vast majority they are in trouble.

As I said it is good news for Edwards; the impact is negligible now, but has the potential to grow.

Possibly wrong on potential impact (3.00 / 1)

its more than a delegate counting game. State endorsements add a lot of local clout, candidates have more access to the state reps base and network, it gets good local coverage and state reps are generally better known in their state districts than the federal reps are.

As far as effects on the primary, it seems like state reps could have a very powerful effect, especially if they are actively trying to get out the vote and involved in the campaign of the person they endorse. Unlike congressional reps that spend a lot of time in Washington, these are people working in state with strong connections at the local level. I wouldn't underestimate their influence and I'm sure most candidates know this.

Re: Edwards get SC endorsments (3.00 / 1)

First, you don't know that no Democrat will win in NC. I agree SC is a reach but NC is attainable. Second your comment about chasing ambulances shows your intelligence level, and it is not very high. I invite anyone to look at the record Edwards left behind as a lawyer defending everyday Americans, and children for god's sake, from big corporations.

As for this post as an Edwards supporter I think the poster for the good news. Keep it coming!! We are the only campaign that is leading with ideas.

I would like to say lastly that I am tired of Obama supporters crying like babies when they realize not everyone wants to vote for someone unless they have ideas. Sure its a great story but if the only thing that qualifies you is your race or gender and not ideas and policies then you don't deserve the nomination. Hillary or Obama have not earned my vote. Not even close.

Does anyone else worry about how ridiculous Democrats look when they follow someone blindly despite the fact that all they offer is hype, and no substance? It makes us look ridiculous to Joe Everyday. Cmon people we are not electing a prom king or queen, we are electing a president. Quit acting like children!!
